For the sixth year, the Cultural Arts Office and the Museum of Making Music join forces to present International Guitar Night (IGN), which annually brings together four of the world’s foremost acoustic guitarists to perform their latest works and exchange musical ideas in a public concert setting.
For IGN 2014, founder Brian Gore is joined by England's Mike Dawes, Italy’s Pino Forastiere and Quique Sinesi from Argentina. Pino and Mike are revered in steel string circles for their unique mix of melody, improvisation and hand percussion using the strings, fret board and body of the guitar. Quique is a master of many South American melodies and rhythms on both guitar and charango. Lucky ticket holders can anticipate a particularly inventive evening of contemporary guitar music.
This concert is made possible by the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation’s Robert H. Gartner Cultural Endowment Fund.
