DeLoss McGraw: Recent Paintings in
Response to Günter Grass’s "The Tin Drum"
Nov. 21, 2010 – Jan. 16, 2011

In 2000, the work of noted American artist DeLoss McGraw was featured in an exhibition in the Cannon Art Gallery’s inaugural year. In celebration of its tenth anniversary, the gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new paintings by the artist. For this series of paintings, McGraw was inspired by the book "The Tin Drum" by Günter Grass. Visually recreating Grass’s lost world and his use of tragic comedy and magical realism to capture the madness of war, McGraw also looks at our connections to one another that are the potential for goodness.

The World of Adonna Khare:
Beasts, Backpacks and Curious Creatures
Sept. 12 – Nov. 7, 2010

Adonna Khare's fanciful creatures that range from a wide-eyed meerkat to a napping forest gorilla, suggest not only the unearthly gardens of Hieronymus Bosch but the whimsical woodlands of Maurice Sendak. Monumental eight-foot tall pencil drawings on paper, exquisite tiny watercolors, and a thirty-five foot mural filled with wild and wooly creatures are impressive demonstrations of her formidable ability.
